I believe that we need to inspire passion in our students. I believe that students need to begin to learn to take charge of their learning; Genius Hour Projects are a means to accomplish this.

Goals of this project:

*to promote, support and model creative, innovative thinking and inventiveness
*to allow students an opportunity to discover/investigate one of their passions and reflect on/share their learning with others
*provide students and teachers an opportunity to develop skill sets that are valuable in any learning situation (research, experimentation, collaboration, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking)
*to provide an opportunity for classes to share their Genius and Passion Projects with others

This project is open to all grade levels

How this project works:

*teachers can contact Robyn Thiessen by e-mail here or @robynthiessen on Twitter to have a class Genius Hour page created.
*classes create their Genius Hour page as they wish using a variety of Web 2.0 tools
*classes use their page to share Genius HourProjects that they are doing within their classrooms
*classes may want to share their Genius Hour Projects with other classes using Skype or Google Hangout
